Jack Tweed and friend Anthony Davis have been cleared of raping a teenager in Essex last year, the BBC reports. The pair had been accused of attacking the woman on 4 September 2009 after a night in a London nightclub, both men denied the charges and insisted sex with the woman was consensual. "I'm relieved that the jury have taken a matter of minutes to see through these scurrilous and completely groundless allegations," Tweed explained in a statement read by his solicitor Philip Smith. "I now want to put the last eight months behind me and rebuild my life as a 22-year-old young man."
Tweed, standing next to Smith, then interrupted his solicitor to add: "I'd first like to thank my family and friends and everyone who stood by me."
