Hugh Laurie has admitting to dabbling with prescription drugs in an interview with the Radio Times. The House star explained how he’d tried Vicodin, saying, “I wouldn’t recommend it, we have to be careful. But then again… if you’re not in pain it gives a floaty, pleasurable feeling.” Hugh’s comments have provoked anger from anti drugs campaigners, though the British actor has said he was simply researching his role as the craggy doctor, addicted to the drug in the show. The former Blackadder star sounds like he could do with cheering up though, as elsewhere in the interview he spoke of his hatred for watching himself on screen. “I don’t watch regularly. I avert my eyes when my children have it on. I hate seeing myself, but it’s even worse hearing my American accent. I had no idea I sound so retarded, a dull monotone, full of clunking mistakes.”
