A lethal but accidental combination of six drugs caused the overdose that killed Heath Ledger New York authorities revealed yesterday. The city medical examiner's spokeswoman said Ledger died "as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects" of the different drugs. Toxicology reports showed that Heath’s blood contained traces of painkiller Oxycontin and Ibuprofen and anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax as well as sleeping pills Restoril and Unisom. Spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said, "What you're looking at here is the cumulative effects of these medications together.” Speaking in Perth where close family and friends have gathered for his private funeral believed to be this weekend Heath’s father Kim said, “No medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage.”
