Tony Curtis has claimed Hollywood pin-up Marilyn Monroe suffered a miscarriage of his child in 1958. Writing in his new book, The Making Of Some Like It Hot, Curtis says he had an on-off relationship with Marilyn from 1950 but the affair had fizzled out before meeting up again on the set of the classic comedy in 1958 by which time the pair were both married – Curtis to actress Janet Leigh and Monroe to playwright Arthur Miller. During filming, Curtis writes he was “stunned” when, while confessing their affair to Miller, Monroe told him that she was pregnant. "I just stood there. The room was so silent that I could hear tyres screeching on Santa Monica Boulevard," he said. When he asked Miller what he wanted him to do, the playwright reportedly told him, "Finish the film and stay out of our lives." Curtis added, "I stared at him for a minute. Then I looked at her. She was crying. 'Okay,' I said. 'That I can do'. I turned and walked out. I went to my dressing room, closed the door and locked it." Curtis says he finished the affair when filming ended and learned of the miscarriage later.
