After months of ‘will she won’t she’ Britney Spears was finally rushed to hospital last night and “forcibly committed” for her mental problems. The drama was three hours in the making after indecision from police and paramedics on the best way to proceed after a psychiatrist at Britney’s LA home had called the emergency services. Paparazzi covering Britney’s house claim to have heard Police and paramedics use the phrases “suicide attempt”, “Britney unconscious” and “possible resuscitation” before they left for hospital. Though nothing has been confirmed it’s believed the singer was “forcibly committed” as experts believed she could be a danger to herself. It’s said Britney has been placed under a 5150 Psychiatric Hold, meaning she cannot discharge herself for at least 72 hours though authorities are already believed to be looking to extend this period. The LA Times says, “Authorities said the welfare hold was prompted by a telephone call they received from Spear's psychiatrist. It was unclear exactly when they had received the call, but it was apparent that the operation had been carefully planned over a period of time. Unlike the first welfare hold — in which Spears' ambulance was closely pursued by a throng of photographers — vehicles today were blocked from following the same route. The motorcade that whisked Spears to the hospital also showed a large investment in resources. The line of emergency vehicles stretched longer than a football field.” Britney’s mother Lynne was said to be part of this motorcade and surprisingly rode to the hospital with the singer’s on/off boyfriend Adnan Ghalib. A police officer told Associated Press that the star was being taken to hospital to "get help", but did not say which facility she was being taken to. So far the authorities have yet to disclose any further details. Good luck Britney.
