Reports say that the troubled 25-year-old has been given a lifetime ban from the exclusive Chateau Marmont, a regular haunt for Hollywood's glitterati.
According to the Sun, the hotel's management had received complaints from diners that the singer was "acting weird".
Guests then demanded that Spears be kicked out. A source told the tabloid: "The diners were disgusted. You wouldn't expect that from a teenager in a fast-food joint.
"Royalty have dined in this restaurant. Her behaviour was totally unacceptable."
Another LA insider added: "She constantly looked out of it when she came in and the guests began to make noises. The hotel acted before she made a huge scene. No one wants to be banned from staying at the Chateau."
This latest episode in the apparent unravelling of Spears' personal and professional lives comes after the singer's comeback at the MTV video music awards last week was universally panned and ridiculed by critics.
