Former Fawlty Towers star Andrew Sachs has praised Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand and thanked the pair for giving his career a boost. Sachs was at the centre of a scandal last autumn that started when the comedians left a series of messages on his answer phone and ended with Brand leaving the BBC and Ross being suspended for three months without pay. "My family and I came out of it very well," Sachs told Guardian Weekend magazine. "Ross is a great talent with a very quick brain. If only he'd get rid of the other stuff, he'd be twice as good. The sexual innuendo and the way he treats his guests is not good." Brand is aimed at a much younger audience than me. No wonder he doesn't attract many of the more mature generation."
