Speaking to America's Details magazine, the movie star said that he and partner Angelina Jolie had been enjoying some time away from America with their four children and did not learn about Paris' adventure in the penal system until they returned.
He explained: "We hadn't seen television for like a month. I'm probably exaggerating.
"And we just got back to the United States. And we turned on CNN. And on comes Paris Hilton, going to jail. And so we just turned it off again."
Pitt described the heiress' exploits in the media as a "quest for fame" and slammed her attempts to stay in the public eye as "blissfully obvious".
Paris is just one of America's young female celebrities who has been getting herself into trouble recently, with Nicole Richie recently having served 82 whole minutes of a four-day sentence for driving under the influence and Lindsay Lohan getting arrested in July this year for the same offence.
