Brad Pitt has joined America's bid committee to host the 2018 World Cup putting him in direct competition with David Beckham, who is spearheading the UK's bid. After being added to committee's board of directors, Pitt added his name to America's online petition and released a statement. "Soccer is a truly global sport and the opportunity to join the effort to have the US host the world's greatest sporting event again is a great honour," Brad explained. "FIFA has set a world standard for using sport as a tool for positive social change and I'm proud to be associated with a United States World Cup Bid that has so ardently adhered to the principles established by FIFA."Beckham has been drafted in to add some star power to England's bid to hold the competition and is currently in South Africa meeting FIFA delegates and supporting the team's crack at winning this year's competition. According Odds Checkers, at 11/8 England are the current favourites to host the 2018 Cup, while USA lie in sixth place with odds of 50/1.
