James Cameron’s Avatar was named Best Film Drama at the Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles, while the film-maker also won the Best Director. “This is the best job in the world,” Cameron told the audience celeb-filled audience at the Beverly Hilton hotel. “What we do is make entertainment for a global audience.” The director also praised his ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow, herself a Best Director nominee for her Iraq drama The Hurt Locker.Other big winners included Meryl Streep, who won Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy for her role in Julia & Julia, Sandra Bullock who picked up Best Actress in a Drama for her role in The Blind Side and Jeff Bridges who went home with Best Actor in a Drama for his role in Crazy Heart.

Many stars paid tribute to the victims of the Haiti earthquake during the ceremony, while Meryl Streep and House star Olivia Wilde are reportedly among celebrities who will donate their outfits to raise money for the earthquake’s survivors. According to Entertainment Tonight, other stars who have donated their outfits include Josh Brolin, Amy Pohler and Gerard Butler. The clothes will be auctioned to the public through Artists For Peace and Justice and 100% of proceeds will be given directly to the Haitian community. The auction is scheduled to start this week through eBay.
