Amy Winehouse appeared in court on the 23 July 2009 charged with punching dancer Sherene Flash at a charity event in Berkley Square London in September 2008. Flash claimed the singer – who, she added, appeared to be drunk or “on drugs or something” - hit her in the eye when she tried to have her picture taken with her. Needless to say Amy told a different story. Winehouse denied the charge and said she pushed the woman away because she was scared of her. “She moved her left arm to lean down and tried to pose next to me. Her friend came round the front and started taking a picture. I was like, “Do I get a choice in this, hello?” I pushed her up, like away,” Amy explained. “It was more like an indication of “leave me alone, I’m scared of you. I’m not Mickey Mouse – I’m a human being.” The court was also played a recording of Miss Flash’s call to police following the alleged attack. When asked who assaulted her, the tearful dancer replies, “Amy Winehouse of all f****** people.” Winehouse denied common assault and was found not guilty at the City of Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
