Amy Winehouse admits assault

Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has pleaded guilty to assaulting a theatre manager at a Christmas pantomime.

Amy Winehouse has been fined and given a conditional discharge after admitting she assaulted a Milton Keynes theatre manager, the BBC reports. Winehouse admitted lashing out at Richard Pound after disrupting a performance of Cinderella on 19 December. "Mr Pound is a person whose job involves interaction with the public,” Milton Keynes district judge Peter Crabtree said, while passing a sentence of a two-year conditional discharge, a £100 compensation payment to Mr Pound and £85 costs. "If he's assaulted he deserves the court's protection. In this case it's obvious that alcohol played its part. It [the conditional discharge] may be harder than a fine because you have now got to stay on the straight and narrow for the next two years."
