Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have squashed rumours that their relationship is on the rocks with a pu

Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie, film awards,Film, celebrity party,Cannes film festival Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt crushed rumours that their relationship is on the rocks when Brad pulled Angelina in for a kiss at the after party of the premiere for his latest film Inglourious Basterds in Cannes. The couple had put on a united front on the red carpet and continued their tactile frenzy into the night, away from the cameras. Dressed in a stunning, nude Versace gown Angelina simply glowed, and obviously enjoyed spending some quality time with Brad. At the after party Ang and Brad rarely strayed from one another’s side and the atmosphere between the pair put paid to any talk of a split, as Angelina played supportive girlfriend on Brad’s big Cannes night.

Angelina Jolie jets to Cannes to dine with Brad Pitt and Quentin Tarantino

Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie, film awards,Film, celebrity party,Cannes film festival Angelina Jolie Last night Brad and Angelina put on a display of unity at the Cannes Film Festival and showed the world that rumours they are breaking up are not to be believed. The couple had not been photographed together for three months and it was even suggested Angelina Jolie may not turn up for the premiere of Brad’s latest film Inglorious Basterds. But Angelina arrived on the French Riviera on Tuesday evening, after spending a day attending a trial at the International Criminal Court in The Hague. The Oscar-winning actress, 33, joined Brad, 45, and Inglorious Basterds director Quentin Tarantino at a dinner for the cast and crew, including co-stars Michael Fassbender and Diane Kruger, at the Michelangelo restaurant in Antibes, seven miles down the coast from Cannes. The dinner came before a screening of the movie tonight, where Brad and Angelina will make their first red carpet appearance together since the Oscars on 22 February. Tonight’s premiere will mark their third joint appearance on the red carpet at Cannes. Angelina was heavily pregnant with twins Knox and Vivienne when they attended last year.

The Bond girl has been cast to play Kathy alongside Gossip Girl’s Ed Westwick as her love interest Heathcliff. The pair are replacing Natalie Portman and 300 star Michael Fassbender, who were previously attached to the roles.

Other projects announced at Cannes over the last 24 hours include The Last Word starring Ewan McGregor , a film about “two people who fall in love just as the world starts falling apart. Meanwhile Slumdog child star Ayush Mahesh Khedekar, who played Jamal in the film, has been announced as the lead role in a Swiss-produced fantasy adventure, Shyam’s Secret.

Eva Longoria-Parker has diva demands

Eva Longoria,Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie, film awards,Film, celebrity party,Cannes film festival Eva Longoria Making her debut at Cannes on Friday, Eva Longoria caused havoc at the prestigious La Plage Vitamin Water restaurant. While accompanied by her baseball player husband Tony Parker, the 34-year-old Desperate Housewife star demanded that the nearby private beach be closed so that they could enjoy their lunch in private. A source told the Daily Mail, “Eva insisted the staff put screens around her table to shield her from the crowds who had gathered to watch. Mariah Carey and Patricia Arquette were laughing at the fuss she made.” Eva, reportedly, touched nothing other than vitamin water.

Brad Pitt will show -- but will he be without Angelina?

Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie,Jennifer Aniston, film awards,Film, celebrity party,Cannes film festival Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at last year\'s festival

At last year’s Cannes they were the most watched couple, with every magazine, paper and website publishing pictures of a very pregnant Angelina Jolie with a very proud Brad Pitt at her side. But this year things couldn’t be more different. Rumours are rife that Brad Pitt may turn up to the 62nd annual festival without Angelina, amid stories that they are on the verge of a break-up.

Now magazine has reported that Pitt, 45, is so unhappy with Jolie that he’s been begging ex-wife Jennifer Aniston to take him back. It is also claimed that Angelina is so humiliated that Brad is friends with Jen again that she packed his bags. “Angie went mad and told Brad not to bother coming back,” an insider told Now magazine. “She told him he’d humiliated her for the last time and that if he wanted to go back to his boring shallow life with Jen, that was fine by her.” It’s still not clear whether Angelina will be taking time off from filming her latest film Salt to attend the Cannes festivities.

Brad will be at the festival promoting his latest film, Quentin Tarantino’s Inglorious Basterds, which premieres next Wednesday, while Angelina is scheduled to arrive on Saturday 20 May. If she doesn’t show up it could signal a nail in the coffin of their turbulent relationship.

We’re watching this space with baited breath.

Cannes brightens Up

Pixar’s 3D film Up opened the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. It was the first time an animation has launched the event.

Celebrities swapped their Chanel sunglasses for 3D specs to watch the film, which is about a curmudgeonly man who ties balloons to his house in an attempt to become airborne.

Celebrities attending the premiere’s red carpet include Tilda Swinton and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Before the premiere, French actress Isabelle Huppert – president of this year’s international jury – introduced her fellow jurors to the audience. “I don’t think we are here to judge,” she said, “I think we are here to love films, and to see what we love more than others.”

There are 20 directors in the running to win the festival’s top prize, the Palme d’Or, including Quentin Tarantino, whose Second World War saga Inglorious Basterds stars Brad Pitt, Samuel L Jackson and Mike Myers.

Ken Loach’s Looking For Eric, about former Manchester United Footballer Eric Cantona, is one of three films representing Britain in the competition.

The others are Bright Star, a period drama about poet John Keats, and Fish Tank, a domestic drama from director Andrea Arnold. The lead role in Fish Tank is played by 17-year-old Katie Jarvis, who was cast after being spotted arguing with her boyfriend in Tilbury station in Essex.

Aside from the competition, Terry Gilliam will be premiering The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, which Heath Ledger was shooting at the time of his death.

The film has been completed by Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law, who share the Ledger’s parts between them.

Recession hits Cannes

Brad Pitt,Angelina Jolie, film awards,Film, celebrity party,Cannes film festival Cannes Film Festival If we think about the Cannes Film Festival, what usually springs to mind are the glamorous parties, linen-clad millionaires relaxing on their yachts and celebrities shimmying down the red carpet in the latest designer frocks at the event that can make or break a film career.

Reports from this year’s event, however, suggest some of the sheen may be coming off the festival.

Yacht rentals are reported to be down by 50 per cent, lavish events (such as the infamous Vanity Fair party) have been cancelled, caterers have reportedly dropped foie gras and champagne from their menus, and the business of buying and selling films at this year’s Cannes looks set to take a turn for the worse. And what’s to blame? The economic global downturn of course, leading to fears that the festival known for inspiring innovation and adventure in filmmaking may not live up to its name, as fewer industry professionals make their usual annual pilgrimage.

Festival director Thierry Fremauz suggested that this news could be a good thing, as attention could focus on the films being screened. “Perhaps we can think about the cinema, not the stars and the starlets and the excessiveness of Cannes,” he told Reuters news agency.

Who knows how the festival will span out over the next 11 days. All we know is that handbag.com will seek out those celebrities and fashion icons, bringing you the latest celebrity and fashion gossip from the 62nd annual festival.
