It was another successful night for British film as Slumdog Millionaire won Best Ensemble cast at this year\'s Screen Actors Guild Awards.


Also nominated were The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Doubt, Milk and Frost/Nixon.

Best Actor

Sean beat Mickey Rourke for The Wrestler, who won Best Actor at the Golden Globes, as the race for an Oscar tightens. Penn gave a good speech, but it was clear that he was pretty choked up about winning.

Other nominees were Brad Pitt for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, Frank Langella for Frost/Nixon and Richard Jenkins for The Visitor.

Best Actress

Winning this award puts Meryl neck and neck with Kate Winslet in the race for a Best Actress award at The Oscars.

Also nominated were Angelina Jolie for Changeling, Anne Hathaway for Rachel Getting Married, Melissa Leo for The River and Kate Winslet for Revolutionary Road.

Best Supporting Actor

The award was accepted by his co–star Gary Oldman who gave a short, but sweet speech. “He was an extraordinary young man with an extraordinary talent and it it is wonderful that you have acknowledged that and honoured that talent tonight,” Gary said, before raising the statue and saying, “Heath.”

Also nominated for the award were Josh Brolin for Milk, Robert Downey Jr for Tropic Thunder, Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Doubt and Dev Patel for Slumdog Millionaire.

Best Supporting Actress

Kate Winslet,Penelope Cruz,screen actors guild awards,celebrity gossip,celebrity,sag awards,amy adams,awards,celebrity lives Kate Winslet Kate Winslet The Reader
No double wins for Kate this time, as Meryl Streep took home Best Actress.

Also nominated were Penélope Cruz for Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Amy Adams for Doubt, Viola Davis for Doubt and Taraji P Henson for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
