Awards season 2011 is in full swing after the Golden Globes took place on Sunday night and the BAFTA nominations have been announced. Find out whether Colin Firth is up for another Best Actor gong, The Social Network might win Best Film again, and Natalie Portman will need to think up another acceptance speech in case she wins. Fingers crossed this time it won’t include outbursts about sex with her boyfriend.

Best Film:

  • Black Swan
  • Inception
  • The King’s Speech
  • The Social Network
  • True Grit

handbag.com’s predictions: After the Golden Globes crowned The Social Network Best Film, it might be safe to say that we think they’ll get the gong at the BAFTAs 2011. However, we think that Black Swan might just pick up this one. We would say that The King’s Speech would win, if it weren’t for the Outstanding British Film category.

Outstanding British Film

  • 127 Hours
  • Another Year
  • Four Lions
  • The King’s Speech
  • Made In Dagenham

handbag.com’s predictions: This is a tough one to call. We think the competition is going to be between 127 Hours, The King’s Speech and Four Lions. However, we think that The King’s Speech will win - it has a stellar British cast, it’s about the monarchy and it’s brilliant. Watch our interview with 127 Hours director Danny Boyle.

Director

  • 127 Hours – Danny Boyle
  • Black Swan – Darren Aronofsky
  • Inception – Christopher Nolan
  • The King’s Speech – Tom Hooper
  • The Social Network – David Fincher
  • handbag.com’s predictions: We reckon that the Director award will go to Danny Boyle for 127 Hours.

    Animated Film

    • Despicable Me
    • How To Train Your Dragon
    • Toy Story 3

handbag.com’s predictions: Much like at the Golden Globes, we think Animated Film has to go to Toy Story 3.

    Leading Actor

    • Javier Bardem – Biutiful
    • Jeff Bridges – True Grit
    • Jesse Eisenberg – The Social Network
    • Colin Firth – The King’s Speech
    • James Franco – 127 Hours

handbag.com’s predictions: Following suit from the Golden Globes, our prediction is that the Leading Actor award will be given to Colin Firth for The King’s Speech.

    Leading Actress

    • Annette Bening – The Kids Are All Right
    • Julianne Moore – The Kids Are All Right
    • Natalie Portman – Black Swan
    • Noomi Rapace – The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo
    • Hailee Steinfeld –True Grit

handbag.com’s predictions: If the Leading Actress BAFTA doesn’t go to Natalie Portman for Black Swan, which we think it should do, then we reckon it’ll be given to Annette Bening for The Kids Are All Right.

    • Christian Bale – The Fighter
    • Andrew Garfield – The Social Network
    • Pete Postlethwaite – The Town
    • Mark Ruffalo – The Kids Are All Right
    • Geoffrey Rush – The King’s Speech

handbag.com’s predictions: While we reckon that giving this award to Pete Postlethwaite would be a great way to celebrate his life, if it doesn’t go to Pete it should be given to Andrew Garfield for The Social Network.

      Orange Wednesday’s Rising Star Award

      • Gemma Arterton
      • Andrew Garfield
      • Tom Hardy
      • Aaron Johnson
      • Emma Stone
      • handbag.com’s predictions: We think Andrew Garfield should get the Orange Wednesday’s Rising Star Award. He’s already made quite a name for himself, and his star is set to shine even brighter when the new Spider-Man reboot hits the big screen.
