Cansei de Ser Sexy, "I\'m tired of being sexy" in Portuguese, not only have the best band in the world, they have the best named singer too, Lovefoxxx. The band hail from Sao Paulo, Brazil and have been making their unique blend of electro pop and rock since 2003. They were the band to see on this summer\'s festival circuit, even Paris Hilton couldn\'t resist going to see them at the Coachella festival - but then it was to watch them perform their track Meeting Paris Hilton.

Gallows
Named by rock bible Kerrang! as 2007\'s best British Newcomer, Watford hardcore rockers Gallows\' ferocious sound has also been getting them attention across the pond in the US. Their take no prisoners style has won them legions of fans and slots at respected festivals like Reading, Warped Tour and South By Southwest. Interest is also helped by frontman Frank Carter, a true rock loon, who likes getting tattooed live on stage and promises the band won\'t last beyond 2009.

Unklejam
When your name is constantly being dropped by music industry big hitters such as Trevor Nelson and Sly And The Family Stone, there\'s going to be a lot of hype to live up to. But funk/pop/whatever trio Unklejam have the names - Tyson, Bobby and Adonistar - image and most importantly songs to back it up. Lethal Bizzle
You might recognise Lethal B - 23-year-old Maxwell Ansah to his mates. Back in 2002 he was on Top Of The Pops with his old band More Fire Crew performing their top 10 hit Oi! Since then he\'s gone solo and released two albums, 2005\'s Against All Oddz and this year\'s Back To Bizznizz, and won fans for his rapping and his genre-busting approach to touring that\'s seen him on the NME tour and duetting with noisy punks Gallows. A big 2008 is in the offing for him, but someone should help him out with he spelling on his albums.

klaxons
2007 Mercury Music Prize winners the Klaxons have achieved a lot in their two years together. Not many bands can say they signed a major label deal, had top 10 hits, won a prestigious award and coined a new musical style, Nu Rave. But then Klaxons aren\'t like other bands. The sky really is the limit.

M.I.A
"I say the things I\'m not supposed to say, I look wrong, my music doesn\'t sound comfortable, people are having issues with my videos." However many times M.I.A (Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam) tells you no one likes her don\'t believe her. With a sound as colourful and varied as her style she\'s long been the darling of the underground press but thanks to a Mercury Nomination and support from director Spike Jonze her star seems primed to explode.

The Young Knives
Declaring a love of tweed and having a bassist going by the name House Of Lords is reason enough for us to check out any band. The good news is The Young Knives, as they proved on their debut Voices Of Animals, they have the quirky, catchy tunes to match.

The Clik Clik
When influential pop blog popjustice.com calls a band their favourite, people pay attention. They say they sound like all their top playlists rolled into one, but the best description we can muster is that they sound like no one but themselves. Keep an eye on their surefire progess, drop their name and remind everyone when they\'re massive how you discovered them when they were just a cult band on myspace.
