X Factor
Halfway through this year’s X Factor and we’ve already seen enough spice to blow the last three series out of the water. Let’s recap what’s been going on…
Simon Cowell,careers,TV
X Factor - Louis Walsh
It all kicked off before it had even started with Louis Walsh, the loveable wee Irish judge we have to thank for the likes of Boyzone and Westlife, sacked because Simon Cowell wanted to “freshen up” the series.

X Factor - Brian Friedman & Dannii Minogue
So we had to make do with American choreographer Brian Friedman and the lesser Minogue sister, Dannii. But it didn’t take long for Simon to see the error of his ways. Brian left, disappointed with the British talent, while Sharon Osbourne said there was no chemistry between the judges. Amid claims of a devious marketing ploy, Louis returned with a wry smile on his face.

X Factor - Auditions
Needless to say there were plenty of people ready to take their chances in front of quartet of terror, with 200,000 people auditioning for the UK’s biggest talent contest; some good, some bad, and some downright ugly.

X Factor - Bootcamp
After the judges removed some of the more ‘unique’ artists, the rest were shipped off to X Factor boot camp to sort the wheat from the chaff. Although, apparently it should have been called Bonk Camp, due to the all-night sex and booze partying by some of the contestants! Whatever happened did no harm to Hope and Futureproof, though, who despite failing in their solo performances wowed the judges when they returned as bands.

X Factor - Catagories
With the Boot Camp results in, the judges were given their categories. Dannii got to check out the boys while Sharon was allowed to have her way with the girls. Simon was ready to find the next best group, a category he was determined to win this year, and Louis got to play with the experienced hand of the over 25s.
Sharon Osbourne,TV
X Factor - Sharon Osbourne
Sharon was confident that it was going to be her year, but she didn’t make things easier for herself by storming off the show in mid October because two of her contestants were in the bottom two. She claimed it was due to last minute rescheduling that meant most people missed her first act and so it was unfair, but not wanting to be a spoilsport she returned to the show.

X Factor - Sharon Osbourne , Simon cowell & Dannii Minogue
Back on the show, Sharon launched a scathing attack on Simon saying he favoured Dannii over her. Never one to shy away from controversy, Simon was spotted having a candlelit tête à tête with Dannii at an exclusive Knightsbridge restaurant.

X Factor - Sisi Jghalef
Of course it’s not just the judges that a filling the headlines. Contestant Sisi Jghalef, a ‘Hope’-full, was removed from the group and the show because she had an outstanding criminal conviction for attacking a McDonald’s worker. She missed out on future stardom and we missed out on the possibility of a live TV arrest. Spoilsport producers.

X Factor - Emily Nakanda
Not to be outdone, 15-year-old Emily Nakanda left the show after a couple of rather uninspiring videos came to light on the internet. Not only was there one of Shiverz (her alleged gang name) violently happy-slapping a girl, but another of her threatening to gouge someone’s eye out with a bread knife. Kids these days!

X Factor - Final 12
Now we’ve entered the live rounds, we can look forward to seeing some top quality acts guesting on the show. We’ve already seen former winner Leona Lewis and Boyz II Men but we can also look forward to new songs from Girls Aloud and creepy pop god Michael Jackson. Not so sure about having Celine Dion on though.

X Factor - Judges Award
As with all reality TV though, the real judges are the watching public and it looks like we have a split decision this autumn and nobody can really decide whether to watch ITV’s X Factor or BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing. But by a whisker it looks like, despite not picking up any awards at the NTV Awards 2007, people would rather watch B list celebrities prancing around in pretty dresses than egotistic judges as the dancing stars seem to be edging the numbers. This said though, we’re sure Mr Cowell will have plenty more tricks ups his sleeve

X Factor - Rhydian & Beverly
And after all this hullabaloo, we can actually get back to the fact that this is, in fact a talent show, with some fantastic singers and artists to watch. Our favourites at handbag.com are the Welsh crooner Rhydian (although we still can’t make up our minds about his haircut), the soulful diva Beverly, or the potential pop princesses Hope. But don’t take our word for it, let us know who you think is going to win…
