As 24-year-olds go, Paloma Faith has lived a pretty interesting life. Before taking the music scene by storm the Hackney-born singer was a magicians assistant, becoming a burlesque dancer and an actress, appearing in St Trinians and The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus later this year.
Youll probably recognise Palomas debut single Stone Cold Sober from her album Do You Want The Truth Or Something Beautiful? Faith often finds herself favourably compared to Amy Winehouse and Duffy, as a result of the retro and soulful Dusty Springfield/Etta James feel to her songs. We also love her quirky sense of style, which is 1950s pin-up de jour and reflects her days spent doing burlesque on stage.
Her next single New York is out on 14 September. A soulful ballad, which is just as much jazzy as it is bluesy and will have you singing along before you know it.
You can catch Paloma at this years Bestival on the Isle of Wight and follow the soul songstress on twitter.
