What's the story?
The Brighton boys are back to promote their chart-topping second album, Konk. So, where better to catch the Britpoppers then a sell-out gig at the Brixton Academy. The Academy is a lovely venue, especially for those short in stature (namely me!) as it has a slanted floor which means that you can see the stage from practically anywhere.
The band exploded on to the stage kicking of with the recent single Always Where I Need To Be backed by a high-octane light show. Then they took the pace to a more bouncy level playing new stuff from their album mixed in with past hits like Naïve and She Moves In Her Own Way, which had the crowd happily bopping along.
Who played?
Besides the main guys themselves I managed to catch one of the support acts Palladium. This random band were not an obvious choice of support with their retro new romantic look and sound which made me feel like I'd been blasted back into the '80s.
Liking...
Leadman Luke Pritchard heading back on to the stage for an acoustic encore of Seaside. His distinctive voice sounded delicious accompanied only by his guitar and a Brixton Academy rammed full of fans singing along.
