What's the story?
Kitchens aren't normally the place to form kick ass bands but Brighton based The Go! Team haven't let that stop them. Since releasing their last album, 'Thunder, Lightning, Strike' (which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize) they have been on tour with the likes of Franz Ferdinand, among others. Now they're back with a new album full of high energy tunes that, as is their way, blend a unique range of styles. It seems they've thrown pretty much everything into it... including the kitchen sink.
Best track?
Lead single 'Get a Grip' sets the bar high but this a record full of good times. 'Spin Universal Speech', 'Titanic Vandalism' and 'Flashlight Fight' are all equally impressive.
Who would like this?
With their bold mix of noisy guitars, hip hop, 'cop show' theme tunes, playground chants, and drums, drums, drums, there is no one else out there that sounds quite like this. And while on paper it's a mixture that would seem doomed to fail, their enthusiasm is so infectious, it's hard not to be won over. If you share their sense of adventure check them out, they don't disappoint.
