Whats the story?
Hard to believe the Phonics celebrated a decade in the music biz this year makes you feel old doesnt it? And what better way to continue the celebrations than with whats sure to be a huge hit of an album. After a successful new material preview back in spring with the punk-rock-heavy Bank Holiday Monday, the Welsh trio are back with Pull the Pin, their 6th studio album
Sounds like
?
A sweet mélange of Stereophonics sounds from the past 10 years, Pull the Pin takes all the best bits from their previous work and mixes them up in an album that is consistently brilliant. Youve got the signature rocky opener with wailing riffs and pounding drums in the form of Soldiers Make Good Targets, an ingenious example of Kellys story-telling songwriting in Daisy Lane and a heart-breaking melodic rock number with first single It Means Nothing.
Is it worth my hard earned cash?
Abso-rocking-lutely! This is both heavy, heady guitar rock and melodic story-telling at its finest, whilst Kellys voice has never sounded better. At times all aggressive, brash, sleazy, moving and brooding, Pull the Pin is a must for die-hard Phonics fans and new listeners alike. Dont miss out.
