Britney Jean Spears was born on 2 December 1982 in Kentwood, Louisiana to parents Jamie and Lynn Spears. Her showbiz career started early, if you were tuned into the Mickey Mouse Club back in 1992, you\'d have seen a couple of fresh-faced little kids destined for very big things. Justin Timberlake (left) and Britney were definitely the stars of the show, but although both became huge pop idols in their own right, fate had different fortunes in store for the two celebs-in-training.

The song climbed to the top of the charts around the world, going on to be the best-selling single of the year in the UK. She followed up with Sometimes in June and hit the road in July for her first tour.
