Keira Knightley has confessed that she doesn’t like her character in Never Let Me Go.
“She’s not particularly nice,” she says about her character, Ruth. “I didn’t like her when I read the script, and it’s always a challenge to get into someone’s head who you don’t like.”
Keira also thinks Star Trek fans may not like the movie.
“I’d always be wary of calling it science fiction only because people then go expecting Star Trek and it certainly isn’t that,” the actress explains, adding, “I think it’s dystopian instead of science fiction.”
Keira co-stars with Carey Mulligan in Never Let Me Go. The pair first worked together on the movie Pride And Prejudice, and Keira admits that their friendship helped with filming.
“We have a history and it’s wonderful getting the opportunity to work with your friends,” she says. “You can bring the real relationship into the piece, and particularly a piece like this where it’s about friendship. With these particular characters they’ve grown up together, they’re kind of like siblings so it’s very important to get that connection right, and obviously if you know the person then that’s easy.”
