Jim Sturgess has exclusively told handbag that he was never in the running for the role of Spiderman, but admitted Andrew Garfield was a good choice.
Back in January, the Jim Sturgess rumour mill was going haywire with news that he was going to be playing Spiderman in the next film. I was asked to play Spiderman in the Broadway musical, the actor explains. So Id done some workshops for this Spiderman musical. I turned up to just mess around and do some improvisation, and I think the rumours for the film came from that.
So seeing as he isnt taking on the part, what does he think of the casting of Andrew Garfield, who can currently be seen in Dont Let Me Go opposite Carey Mulligan and Keira Knightley? I know Andrew, we worked together on a film called The Other Boleyn Girl, Jim says, before adding, Hes a brilliant actor, so theyve made a good choice definitely.
We were talking to Jim about his new release Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of GaHoole, which he says he wanted to get involved with because, Its always nice to try something new that Ive never done before and animation was definitely that. The script was so unique and different, and was willing to take a risk and not just pamper the kids.
Here at handbag.com, were really excited about the release of One Day, which is based on the book by David Nicholls. Jim has signed up to play Casanova Dexter opposite Anne Hathaway. Seeing as hes going to be playing the bad boy, we asked Jim if he considers himself a natural for the role, Ive certainly had my fair share of experiences and it was nice to put some of the stuff that Ive been through and into this character, Jim laughs, But, I wouldnt call myself a natural bad boy, no.
Legends of the Guardians: The Owls of GaHoole is out now.
