Blue Lagoon

This disused mine quarry in North Wales is filled with clear, blue water and appears like a cobalt jewel on the mountainside. It is in fact the copper in these quarries, which inhibits the growth of algae that gives the waters their ethereal azure hue, further deepened under a blue summer sky. Many divers come here to practise their deep-water skills, and a swim near the cliff face with goggles on can be a vertigo-inducing experience.
