What's the story?
We may have had our fill of reality TV churning out "stars" like some Turkey Twizzler factory (and of the same quality) but in the case of How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? we put our hands up. Connie Fisher absolutely shines in the role made iconic by Julie Andrews in this flawless production of a much-loved story.
Best bit
Other than the fabulous Miss Fisher, the song performances from the huge ensemble cast (especially the abbey sisters and the hunky Captain von Trapp, played by Simon Burke) are all spot-on without a dud among them. Anyone who is a die-hard fan of the film will not be disappointed. Even if you hate The Sound Of Music (blashphemy, say I) you would be hard-pressed not to want to sing when you hear, "The hiiiiils are aliiiive."
Worst bit
The annoying members of the audience singing, "The hiiiiils are aliiiive."
Liking
The incredible set design changes from abbey to majestic Austrian mountain top to imposing von Trapp mansion imperceptibly, allowing you to get truly lost in the story.
Perfect for
Anyone who appreciates musical theatre at its finest. This is an incredibly tight production with stellar acting that conveys all the drama, sadness, humour and joy from the story. Throw in perfect staging and impeccable singing and you have a production that's impossible to fault.
