The Nokia C7
Whats the story?
While most mobile phone manufacturers have been playing catch-up with the mighty Apple for the last few years, Nokia have been sticking to their guns and carefully refining and improving their own products. Their latest, the C7, is a huge step forward. Combining a great look and feel with a host of innovative and genuinely useful features, theyve produced a phone that not only competes with the iPhone 4 but, in a lot of areas, exceeds it.
Whats good?
Where to start? Theres a brilliant 8MP camera that shoots in HD which you can connect to your TV, video calling, background noise cancelling voice calls, a brilliant sat nav, a torch, radio, side loading USB port, bags of social networking potential. But, what really sets it apart for us is its ease of use. No paging through lists and menus, everything is simple and easy to find.
Whats bad?
After having a play around and becoming familiar with the way to operate the C7 its difficult to find anything its bad at. Our only real gripe is when you go online. While the C7 can handle Flash files, something Apple still stubbornly refuse to do, you are always aware that youre using a phone to surf the internet. Entering web addresses is a little clunky, but the qwerty keyboard option does make entering addresses and info easier.
Summary
So, the big question is the C7 better than the iPhone4? Well, just as youre either a PC person or a Mac, some people are always going to be loyal to their favourite brand. Apple have a huge head start, and thanks to their apps, a significant point of difference. And its impossible to deny the iPhone's air of cool but placing the phones side by side and going feature for feature, the Nokia consistently outperforms its famous friend and in many ways is easier and quicker to use. And as well as all its practical prowess, it looks sleek and lovely too. Were converted!
