What's the story?
Clamshell phones? Pah, says Samsung, we'll have none of that! It's all about sliding these days, and the U600 does that better than Justin Timberlake dancing on butter. Plus, you'll find yourself wanting to touch it even more than you would JT because it has a delightfully delicate touch system for your main controls. And it's pruple!
What's to like?
Well, if you want a quick answer it's best to ask what you don't, as this phone does pretty much everything. It has a 3.2 megapixel camera, a music player that you can put a memory card in to hold loads of tracks, FM radio, organiser, movie player, picture editor... In fact, you'd hardly need to use it as a phone if you didn't want to, but of course that's pretty good as well.
What's not to like?
Only a couple of things really, but they do bring it down a bit. First, although the camera is great quality, it suffers from the curse of 'I'm a phone, not a camera!' whereby it takes a pic, but every time about half a second after the moment, which is not very good for that cute baby-face picture. Second, and by far the worst, is the delicate touch system, which although totally cool, is a little too sensitive, so from time to time you end up hanging up calls with your face.
Verdict
A cool and stylish phone that will send everyone sliding your way to touch it, and if you can handle it properly, you'll be holding onto the hottest property in the office. And did we mention it was purple?
