Costumes

Jim Carrey,holiday,party places,harry potter,entertainment news,fun stuff Costumes

Why not have a themed party? We’ve all seen it in Yes Man, when Jim Carrey’s friend invites him to a Harry Potter themed evening – was I the only one who thought that he had a good basis for a party theme?

Why not try a True Blood themed party? Serve southern fried chicken and Bloody Marys to your guests all dressed as their favourite True Blood character – shotgun Sookie!

Games

holiday,party places,entertainment news,fun stuff Games

Games are a must-have at any Halloween party – the whole point is to forget about your stiff upper lip and let you hair down, right? A great game to play is pumpkin bowling. Fill 10 fizzy drink bottles partially with water, and align them in a triangle. Then find the smallest, roundest pumpkin you can find – and enjoy.

Or why not try a game of nerves? Get a sack and fill it with anything you can think of that resemble body parts. Here are a few of our ideas: Udon noodles or boiled cauliflower for a brain, cocktail sausages for toes, peeled grapes for eyeballs. Tell your guests their part of a crime scene investigation – and they have to decide which body parts are in the bag.

Of course, for less sadistic fun, bobbing for apples is always great too.

Have a murder mystery party

holiday, party places, entertainment news, fun stuff Have a murder mystery party You can spend time creating your own murder mystery game, or you can order one online.  It’s about £20 for a game for 6-8 people and you get the invitations and instructions on how to play. All you have to do is assign your guests a character –then they arrive in character and play out the game, trying to decide who is the murderer. Spooky, but so much fun!

The haunted weekend

holiday,party places,entertainment news,fun stuff The haunted weekend

This one’s not for the faint-hearted. If you’re brave enough, why not book a haunted weekend? The Haunted Hotel Guide lets you book into some of England’s most haunted houses. We’ve all seen Most Haunted, right? You get the gist. We’re not sure we’d be brave enough to handle the whole weekend, so why not try one of the Jack The Ripper walks through Whitechapel? You get spooked, and you learn some history. Bonus.

DVD night in

holiday, party places, entertainment news, fun stuff DVD night in Of course, most Halloween nights we like to spend the night in watching the scariest DVDs we can find. Here are our top 10 films to watch this Halloween:

Saw I, II, III, IV, V – then go and see Saw VI at the cinema!
Halloween – you can’t have a Halloween without this.
The Grudge – possibly the scariest film we’ve ever seen.
A Nightmare On Elm Street – bring back memories from your childhood.
Jeepers Creepers – it shouldn’t be scary because it’s so silly, but we still can’t sleep after watching this.
Rosemary’s Baby – imagine if your child was the son of Satan! Nightmare or what?
The Exorcist – a young girl’s tale of what it’s really like to go through puberty.
Final Destination – I mean, what would you do if this actually happened?

Cinema night out

holiday, party places, entertainment news, fun stuff Scary movies Of course films are always scarier if you don’t know what’s coming next, so check out some of these bad boys at the cinema.

Saw VI – Jigsaw’s back, and he wants to play a little game.
The Final Destination – They’re still running from death. Will it ever end?

Of course, if you’re not up for scaring yourself silly, you can always opt for a wimp out film. Now showing:

Zombieland – this Shawn Of The Dead-esque comedic thriller will have you laughing and jumping all at the same time. Sometimes when there’s a vicious zombie about to attack you, you just have to laugh in the face of danger.
Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant – a boy is bored with life, and so becomes a vampire’s assistant. Simples.
