One of the best parts of The X Factor is it’s audition process, but Simon Cowell has taken a big risk this year by giving it a new a live studio audience audition format á la Britain’s Got Talent. Do you think that it still works?
We think it feels as like some of the intimacy has left the show, if anything we used to tune in to see Cheryl Cole, Dannii Minogue, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell’s banter. The X Factor used to be about watching the contestants go from a tiny audition room to performing in front of a crowd at boot camp, to singing live on national television in front of and a studio audience and millions of viewers (absolutely terrifying we’d imagine). It seems they’ve now gotten rid of one of the hardest hurdles the contestants had to face thus defeating the point of the show.
What do you think of the new X Factor format? Too Britain’s Got Talent-esque? Do you think it’s less funny?
