What's the story?
New York based photographer Marion and her American boyfriend Jack have just 48 hours in Paris to catch up with her loved ones. It may sound romantic but it's an emotional minefield for Jack who experiences a completely different side of the woman he thought he knew inside out. First there is her relaxed attitude to sex that's clearly inherited from her kooky parents, and then there's her colorful past that he must come to grips with after encountering her many ex-boyfriends.
Who's in it?
Writer/director Julie Delpy, of Before Sunrise fame, has cleverly cast herself as the slightly hat stand Marion and her own parents, actors Marie Pillet and Albert Delpy, as her mum and dad. They're all excellent and completely adorable, while the amusing Adam Goldberg it just as appealing.
Liking
Pretty much everything. This charming and keenly observed relationship comedy is not only believable and unforced but very amusing with beautifully written characters and situations. Plaudits to Julie.
Not liking
If we were to be really fussy with this fab effort, Delpy's voiceover becomes a bit too much while there are a couple of clichéd minor characters.
Will I get bored of it?
Not a chance. About as bored as you would get of Paris.
