Who?
When the Green Lantern first appeared in 1940, his alter ego was Alan Scott, but over the years there have been many other Lanterns, the best of which was probably daring pilot, Hal Jordan.

Why was he cool?
Because he had a rechargeable power ring which gave him super powers that included flight and the ability to make useful items (like big hammers) appear out of thin air...

Who?
Part of the most popular superhero team of all time, the X-Men, Wolverine was the most mysterious member of the bunch.

Why was he cool?
Because he was a dark, brooding, sexy man of metal and muscle, who via some strange army experiment, ended up with an \'adamantium\' clad skeleton that enabled him to pop out deadly retractable claws when danger was afoot, and heal himself when injured...

Notable nemeses?
Magneto and the Brotherhood of Mutants

Superman

Why is he cool?
Because he is damn near invincible. He can fly, he can turn back time, he can shoot laser beams from his eyes, icy blasts from his mouth, and he\'s bullet proof.

Manimal

Why is he cool?
Because he could transform into any animal he wanted... Mostly a hawk and a black panther.

Who?
Dr Bruce Banner is a military scientist who after accidentally exposing himself to some gamma rays, transforms into a big, green, muscle bound man-beast.

Why is he cool?
Even though he\'s a bit of a handful when he gets angry (which is quite a lot) the Hulk never looks for trouble, and really just wants to be left alone... Aww!

Notable nemeses?
The police, the army and the Abomination

Wonder Woman

Who?
\'As Beautiful as Aphrodite, as wise as Athena, swifter than Mercury, and stronger than Hercules\', Wonder Woman, the Amazonian warrior princess, was one of the first female superheroes to emerge.

Why is she cool?
Because she had superhuman strength, and great accessories – particularly the Lasso of Truth (which made men tell the truth when wrapped up in it – v. handy) and some indestructible bracelets (much better than a shield).

He-Man spent his days defending the realm of Eternia and Castle Grayskull from evil forces, while She-Ra (his twin sister) did the same in Etheria but with more annoying friends…

Why are they cool?
Because they possessed the power of Grayskull, had a couple of nifty swords, and superhuman strength and speed. He-Man also had his trusty steed Battle Cat, super breath and could communicate telepathically with the Sorceress of Grayskull, while She-Ra had her trusty steed Spirit, a healing touch and could communicate telepathically with animals.

Daredevil

Ben Affleck,Film Daredevil
Who?
Forget the crappy film with Ben Affleck for a moment and remember that in the comics, Daredevil was one hot mamayama, and known to criminals as \'the man without fear\'. Blinded as a child, Daredevil - A.K.A Matt Murdock - was a lawyer by day and a vigilante by night, righting the wrongs of the American justice system…

Why is he cool?
