Daniel Dae Kim
He got into acting at college but, refreshingly, 'Lost' is the first time he has played a Korean role. Amazingly Daniel has had to practise his Korean on friends and family because he had lost so much of the language since growing up. 'I was born in Korea but I went to America when I was one-and-a-half years old. So I worked really hard to learn my English like a good American boy, but in the process I lost my Korean,' he says.
Success with the ladies
After being referred to on 'Will and Grace' as 'that hot Korean guy', Daniel, 38, has become quite a heartthrob. 'I've kind of entered the pop culture I guess, and that was a thrill. I'm flattered.' He keeps buff and loves to be fit, a fact which isn't lost on us. 'When I was in college, I was pretty athletic. I played a lot of sports, so it's always been a part of who I am. I never work out to get huge or anything like that, I work out to stay fit because I feel better. And I watch what I eat, not because I'm on an extreme carb diet or anything like that, but I want to live a long life.'
How to woo him
Daniel has two major loves: the theatre, and science fiction, so displaying your knowledge of either of these could help. 'I was trained on the stage - that's really my first love. I was a huge fan of 'Star Trek',' he says, adding that he also grew up loving Japanese manga cartoons. And don't believe the rumours about him being more than friends with his on-screen spouse, Yunjin Kim. 'Yunjin and I get along really well. I'm really lucky to be working with her. She's incredibly generous and she's a lot of fun as a person,' he adds.
Eligibility
Daniel is dad to two children, and they and his gorgeous wife Mia moved to Hawaii to be with him during filming. 'My wife, bless her, has been so supportive,' gushes Dan. 'When we first met, I was going to be a lawyer. I met her even before I had acted in my first thing or even wanted to be an actor. So she stuck with me through everything, and you don't find that very often in a woman or a man. She made a lot of sacrifices for me and that's one of the reasons I love her.'
