Naveen Andrews
Naveen got his big break in 'The English Patient', although he nearly didn't make it big at all. A former drug addict and alcoholic, his career nearly collapsed in his early 20s because of his dependencies. He left London and moved across the Atlantic to America for rehab and has been clean for several years.
Success with the ladies
Naveen has confessed to not even watching the hit TV show, but says his character Sayid - a former Iraqi soldier - has been a big hit with the ladies. 'It's flattering that the character is perceived in that way,' he says. 'But it's a character. I am an actor. I play a role, and that's not me.'
How to woo him
Act your age - Nav prefers his ladies to be mature. 'I've always liked women who are older,' says the 37-year-old star. 'They seem to know who they are, and they've lived. They've got soul, and that's very attractive.'
Eligibility
When he is not filming in Hawaii, he's still based in LA with his girlfriend, Barbara Hershey, who is 21 years his senior. They met on the set of the film, 'Drowning on Dry Land', in 1999 and have been together ever since. During a brief split in 2005, he fathered a son with another woman but he and Barbara have since been reunited and work hard to spend time together.
'It requires a constant effort to make sure you see each other. Our limit is usually three weeks apart. When we're together, either in Hawaii or LA, our home, we basically shut down,' he says. 'It's just us. We don't go out on the scene at all.'
