Buffy The Vampire Slayer creator Joss Whedon is back with a new TV series, starring BtVS regular Eliza Dushku, about a group of individuals who have their memories wiped in order to become human dolls who are hired out to the highest bidder. For each new client the dolls are reprogrammed with new personalities and skills to suit the job in hand - which could be anything from a romantic date to a cold-blooded assassination. The show is yet to be picked up by any of our channels but we\'re positive it will be snapped up soon.

Pushing Daisies Season 2

One of the most endearing TV series of 2008 (if we ignore Anna Friel\'s horribly American teeth) returns for a second season in early 2009. So what can we expect from season 2? Well, there will be new characters for a start and someone who we all thought was long gone will be coming back from the dead to surprise everyone.

Legend Of The Seeker

Based on Terry Goodkind\'s best-selling Sword Of Truth novels, Legend Of The Seeker is a new TV series that follows the epic journey of a recently bereaved young man and a mysterious woman who must join forces to stop an evil wizard from unleashing an ancient and terrible power. Directed by Sam Raimi, Legend Of The Seeker is yet to be picked up in the UK, but when it does, it looks set to be very special indeed.

Phoo Action

One of six pilots broadcast on BBC3 earlier this year, Phoo Action has now been commissioned for a full series. Based on the comic book characters created by Jamie Hewlett of Gorillaz/Tank Girl fame, Phoo Action follows the futuristic tale of Whitey Action (Jaime Winstone), an unruly teenage heroine who joins forces with a hapless Buddhist kung-fu cop Terry Phoo (Carl Weathers) to form an unlikely, but effective, crime-fighting duo.

Lost season 5

For those still hooked on Lost, firstly - congratulations on your perseverance, and secondly - are you ready for what could be the penultimate season? According to early reports, in season 5 of Lost we can expect to lose one of the female leads who has been in the show from the beginning, and more predictably, we will be learning more about new character Keamy. Wowzer. Whether or not the riddle of the series as a whole will be any more unravelled by episode 17 remains to be seen, however.

The new series stars Freema Agyeman and Julie Graham among others and like the original tells the tale of a group of people who survive a devastating virus that has wiped out most of the world\'s population.

Fringe

Brought to us by the collective genii of JJ Abrams (Lost, Cloverfield), Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman (Alias, Transformers), Fringe looks set to be a hot mix of The X-Files and The Twilight Zone. Named after the scientific field of ‘fringe science\' (weirdness that includes the likes of mind control, invisibility and reanimation), Fringe follows mad scientist Walter Bishop, his estranged son (played by Joshua Jackson) and an FBI agent who serendipitously come together to explore the aforementioned paranormal activity.

Heroes season 3

Due to hit our screens within mere days of its US premiere, Heroes season 3 promises to make up for its abrupt season 2 climax with a doubly long run of at least 24 episodes (yay!). There will be new arrivals on both sides of good and evil and there\'s even a hint of some old favourites turning to the dark side (noooo!). If rumours are to be believed we might also expect a spin-off show to make its debut in summer 2009.

Written and directed by the man himself, Britain\'s Got the Pop Factor And Possibly A New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly On Ice, will see Peter queen it up as TV talent show solo act Geraldine. Pop Idol judges Nicki Chapman, Pete Waterman and Dr Fox also star and will be playing themselves, pretty much.

Written by brilliant Guardian columnist Charlie Brooker, Dead Set is a six-part horror set inside the Big Brother house. While the Big Brother contestants live blissfully unaware of what\'s going on outside the house, Britain is in the grip of a zombie plague. Dead Set stars Jaime Winstone and will feature cameo appearances from well known faces, including Davina McCall.

Eli Stone

US legal drama Eli Stone, from Brothers & Sisters creator Greg Berlanti, stars Jonny Lee Miller as an ambitious lawyer who suffers from frequent bouts of clairvoyant hallucinations. As if that wasn\'t out there enough, each vision is accompanied by a George Michael song, with George himself making several guest star appearances throughout the series.
