"Well first I really loved the script and then after meeting with Matthew Vaughn, the director, he flew to California and arrived with this huge binder which had the entire movie already story boarded. So, I had seen Layer Cake and knew that he was talented and knew that he was capable of finding a specific style and once I saw what was in his head on paper I felt really confident. It also had such an extraordinary cast."

"I think it\'s just a real testament to his talent. I think all really great directors are able to move from one genre to another, but I think what\'s really right about him and why he was successful with this film was that, even know it\'s really hard to describe and pigeon hole it has fantasy, it has adventure and romance and it\'s whimsical and it\'s dark. I think that it is incredibly modern and I think he approached it, not a fantasy, but with a modern sensibility. That\'s what I really love about it."

"I think it was a combination of, even though it was a conscious decision, I must have been subconsciously feeling that I wanted to take a break. I was reading things and nothing was prompting me to go back to work. I think it was the timing of readiness and then this film coming across my desk."

"She is the most ancient and hideous, most heinous witch I have certainly ever seen on screen. She\'s probably about 5000 years old and probably at the end of her life span and so she goes out in pursuit of this star, which will regain her youth and her sisters\' with a vengeance."

"I know, it is hard to find sympathy for her, but it is something that we actually thought about. We wanted to not only poke fun at the present day obsession with youth, beauty and perfectionism, but at the same time to show her vulnerable side. It is sad she is so, to be that old and decrepit and to be able to feel what it feels like, just in your body, to be able to move without pain and then no sooner do you get it back and it is slowly taken away from you."

"Well, it was brutal, I have to say the whole make up thing was unanticipated and really, really long. Four and half to six hours in the make up chair and completely encased in rubber to every inch of your face. It\'s torture!"

"It is a big birthday coming up; I try not to think about it. Oddly enough, the closer it gets, the less it is a big deal. So I\'m hoping it was just come and go, because it doesn\'t actually feel like a big deal at the moment. I think I may be a little bit too busy to think about. That\'s the trick let\'s just keep working right through it."

"Not really, because we only had that scene and we were really working the whole time. I did have fun with him, he made me laugh a lot."

"I think that they were enormously successful in staying true to the spirit of the book and yet adapting it for the screen. They are very different, but I really think that it retains the spirit."

"I just think they will go on a ride and be really entertained and it is a movie that a family can see together, it\'s a great date movie, so yeah, it\'ll be fun."
