Starring: Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, Tom Hanks
Directed by: David Silverman
(PG), 87 mins, 2007, USA
What's the story?
When the local lake becomes so congested with rubbish, a huge environmental disaster hits Springfield and a national state of emergency is declared. What caused it? Homer's idiocy, of course! Cue the likely lad's laughable attempts to save his beloved town, the rest of the country and the respect of his family.
Who's in it?
The usual Simpsons suspects are on board - voiced by old hands including Dan Castellaneta, Nancy Cartwright, Harry Shearer, Hank Azaria - but die-hard fans will be disappointed that not every one of the TV show's characters have made the cut.
Liking?
The humour. From silly slapstick gags to big belly laugh satirical corkers, the jokes are almost constant. The trademark self-deprecating turn, this time it's from Tom Hanks, is hilarious, while the transition from TV to film works well.
Not liking?
This is good but not a classic, though having been a hit show for 18 years it was always going to be difficult to live up to such high expectations. It lags a little in places and the plot isn't amazing but who cares when you're giggling non-stop?
Extras
There's loads of great stuff on here including deleted scenes, an alternative ending, and lots of great featurettes including The Simpsons Judge American Idol
