Starring: Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Justin Timberlake
Directed by: Chris Miller
(U), 92 mins, 2007, USA
What's the story? When Princess Fiona's dad dies, her ogre hubby Shrek is expected to take the reins of the kingdom of Far Far Away. But as the royal life is just not his scene, Shrek sets out with his buddies Puss In Boots and Donkey to rope in an alternative king. Meanwhile, Prince Charming, still sore from being rejected by Fiona, cooks up a plot to take over the throne himself.
Who's in it?
Regulars Cameron Diaz and Mike Myers voice the happy couple while Justin Timberlake is Fiona's geeky schoolboy cousin. Rupert Everett (the egotistical Prince Charming), Antonio Banderas (ladies' man Puss In Boots) and Eddie Murphy (neurotic Donkey) really shine as they have the funniest scenes.
Liking?
The animation is top notch, there are gags all the way through and there's an action packed girl power ending.
Not liking?
The plot's a bit stale, the wacky sense of humour seems to be on the wane and Shrek fans may come away disappointed as this one doesn't live up to the previous two.
Extras
There's plenty to get through including cast audio commentary, three additional scenes, you can learn the Donkey Dance (Donkey will give you step-by-step instructions), there's Shrek's Guide to Parenthood, music videos, four trailers, interactive games, four DVD-ROM features and more...
