What's the story?
This epic production is based on a graphic comic book by Frank Miller (author of 'Sin City') and tells the true story of 300 brave Spartans, who fought valiantly to defend their land from thousands of invading Persians in the Battle of Thermopylae.
Loving?
The impressive performances from a relatively unknown cast, which engage you from the very start. Make no mistake, this is a gruesome film with plenty of bloodshed and gore - however, the cartoon-like way in which the blood spatters across the screen allows you to watch without feeling squeamish.
Who would like this?
This is a thoroughly enjoyable film that has been both beautifully and cleverly shot in order to bring Miller's comic book to life on screen. Your man is bound to love it; and with all that bare male flesh, rippling muscles and oodles of testosterone flying around, you'll thoroughly enjoy it too!
Extras
This is a two-disc, all-singing, all-dancing special edition, so there's lots to choose from, including a mini documentary about the perils of Spartan life, additional scenes, and commentary by director Zack Snyder, writer Kurt Johnstad and director of photography Larry Fong.
