Celebrity Adoptions
Mia Farrow, the '60s flower-child, who had relationships with Frank Sinatra, Andre Previn and Woody Allen is a serious, and serial, adopter. She has four birth children and adopted 10 others. Her first adoption was in 1973, Lark, a Vietnamese war orphan with asthma. More adopted children followed: Isaiah, a crack-addict baby who eventually died; Tam, a blind boy who has also passed away; Gabriel, a paraplegic; Soon-Yi Previn, who ended up in a scandalous relationship with her step-father Woody Allen. The rest of the Farrow clan includes: Daisy, Misha, Malone, Keili-Shea and finally Thaddeus, a polio victim who was abandoned at a Calcutta railway station. According to the Guardian, Farrow also suffered from polio and said, "Having polio at nine made me feel like a pariah, which gave me an early sense of responsibility and compassionate empathy. It left me with the desire to relieve suffering."
