Director Guy Ritchie has announced actor Jude Law will play Dr Watson in his upcoming Sherlock Holmes film. Alfie star Jude Law will play Dr Watson in Guy Ritchie's new Sherlock Holmes film, the director announced at a press conference. Jude will appear alongside Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Wedding Crashers star Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler in the new film, due out in October 2009. "I'd like to bring something new to this project - I have a few tricks up my sleeve," Guy told the press. "It won't be a traditional Guy Ritchie thing, it will be a new Guy Ritchie thing."
