When Radiohead released their new album In Rainbows last month giving fans the option to pay whatever they wanted, you’d be forgiven for expecting the band at least to be honest enough to chip in. Well you’d have been wrong. Speaking to BBC 6 Music’s Steve Lamacq mainman Thom Yorke has admitted he didn’t pay for it. “There wasn't any point. I’d just move some money from one pocket to the other.” Great point, but many of the 1.2million who picked up a copy in the first week did. The average price paid was £2.90 in the UK while in the US it was a whopping £3.85 – flash gits.
