X Factor main judge Simon Cowell is backing Cheryl Cole’s bid to make it in America.

Simon Cowell is desperate to help launch Cheryl Cole’s career in the US, sources have told The Sun. “Simon was dazzled by Cheryl’s performance on The X Factor," the insider claims. "He’s certain he can turn her into a global star, but he just needs to iron out her visa problem [Cheryl’s 2003 conviction for assault occasioning actual bodily harm prevents her from being able to work in America]. He’s employed a firm of experts in Miami and is confident they will be able to reach some kind of arrangement. What Cheryl did was a long time ago and entirely out of character. She has never put a foot wrong since. Simon is certain her impeccable behaviour since her conviction should be stressed when they make their next application.” Elsewhere Cheryl has revealed she was disappointed Victoria Beckham offered her no help or support while she and husband Ashley were dealing with allegations of his infidelities last year. “She was in my hotel room during the World Cup – we've had barbecues together – so I was quite shocked by that,” she told Vogue. “I mean, David’s mum is friends with Ashley’s mum.”
