Roman Polanski has been arrested in Switzerland and awaits extradition to the United States, the Associated Press report. The director pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl in California in 1978 but fled the country before he could be sentenced, although he has since sought to have the case against him dismissed. "There was a valid arrest request and we knew when he was coming. That's why he was taken into custody." ministry spokesman Guido Balmer explained before adding the Polanski has the right to contest his detention and any extradition decision in Swiss courts.
