Rhys Ifans under fire after interview

Actor Rhys Ifans has been crticised after appearing to make light of date rape in a recent interview.

A new interview with Rhys Ifans has provoked anger and criticism after the actor apparently made light of date rape. When appaering on Radio Q Rhys was asked his opinion on a new song from the Gutter Twins he said, "It's kind of like being date raped, which I liked." When asked if date rape was a good thing the actor said, "Well, yeah, for guys." Rape crisis groups have been quick to critcise his comments. "If he wants to retract that, it would be nice for the 9,000 people who have been drug raped in the past 12 years, Grahame Rhodes of the Roofie Foundation, a British helpline for victims of drug-related rape, told Showbiz Spy. "It shows a total lack of understanding and compassion for the issues. I hope everyone boycotts everything he does now."
