Zoe Saldana, 30, was born in New Jersey and raised in Queens, NYC. She appeared in the teen road movie Crossroads in 2002, which also starred Britney Spears. She recently co-starred in the action thriller Vantage Point with Dennis Quaid and Lost's Matthew Fox. Zoe will take on the iconic role of Lieutenant Uhura in the new Star Trek movie, which is being directed by Lost creator J J Abrahams and is released next year (weirdly, in The Terminal (2004), Zoe played a Trekkie). Zoe's second sci-fi blockbuster for 2009 is James Cameron's Avatar - set in the distant future, humans discover life on a distant planet.
