Media-shy British actor Daniel Day-Lewis picked up the award for Best Actor for his role as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood, a period piece about the early days of the American oil industry. Daniel paid tribute to Heath Ledger, praising his performance in Brokeback Mountain, say that it was ‘unique' and ‘perfect'. He also said, "That scene in the trailer at the end of the film is as moving as anything I think I've ever seen."
