In March 1993 Kim Basinger pulled out of Boxing Helena four weeks before shooting. Sued by the studio, she had to declare herself bankrupt to settle the £6m claim. That decision came soon after her decision to buy the town of Braselton, Georgia in 1989 for £12.5m, which she also had to sell.
