Britney released her debut single Baby One More Time in February 1999, with an accompanying video featuring the 16-year-old in a skimpy school uniform. The song climbed to the top of the charts around the world, going on to be the best-selling single of the year in the UK. She followed up with Sometimes in June and hit the road in July for her first tour.
