Spring summer beauty trends 2010
Spring is on its way and we have selected a whole host of fabulously pretty styles to draw inspiration from. The catwalks were awash with fresh-faced, natural, pretty looks with bursts of colour and a soft fairytale finish to them. Think baby pinks mixed with bright corals, floaty soft hair with wispy braids, and porcelain perfect skin. "There is a backlash against excess," says global director for Max Factor and catwalk make-up artist supremo Pat McGrath, "It\'s about confidence now, not complication." This season colourful eyes are back but with a new found sophistication as opposed to last season. Gone are the neon brights of the ‘80s trend from winter and in their place are an array of pastels as seen on the Nicole Farhi and Dior shows. Complexions are fresh with a flawless finish; whatever foundation you wear make sure it\'s light and natural this season. Lips are in a word, pink. Yes, it\'s back and was all over the catwalk in shades of soft rose - worn over deep plums to lighten the look as seen in Marc by Marc Jacobs - coral pinks added glamour at Missoni, baby pink nude glosses at Max Mara and Hermes were popular, and pops of bright pinky reds left models catwalk ready at Prada.
Excited? We are! Read on to see our favourite trends for eyes, lips, complexions and nails, and discover some of our must-have catwalk products for spring.

Spring/summer beauty trends for lips
Pink was all over the spring/summer catwalks in shades of soft rose worn over deep plums to lighten the look as seen in Marc by Marc Jacobs, while coral pinks added glamour at Missoni. Baby pink nude glosses at Max Mara and Hermes were popular and pops of bright pinky reds left models catwalk-ready at Prada. Matte lips were achieved using layers of lipstick blotted for the perfect finish - this also achieves a much richer deeper colour - or filled in fully with a lip pencil. High shine was as popular as ever with clear gloss and lip balm creating a young, fresh, fashion-forward look.

Spring/summer beauty trends for your complexion
Complexions are fresh this season with a flawless catwalk finish. Whatever foundation you wear make sure it\'s light and natural. Max Factor\'s global director and catwalk make-up artist Pat McGrath describes the look as "bare but beautified". The key to any good foundation application is to make sure you have prepped your skin well. Cleanse, moisturise and use a primer to give you the ideal base to work with. Max Factor recommend applying foundation along the central panel of your face - dots on your forehead, nose and chin - and then to blend outwards. Apply blusher to the apple of your cheeks and apply bronzer to the places on your face which naturally catch the sun. Keep powder light and heavy shimmery highlighters even lighter. Natural is the key.

Spring/summer trend for nails
Thankfully the spring/summer catwalks didn\'t stick to one single nail trend, in fact there were many we are already hooked on. What we saw most of were shades of grey, taupe, nudes and pastels. Lilac and baby blue were popular as was the new season deep green. Red and dark blue still played a role on the catwalk which means we can reuse our winter shades. Most spring/summer nail collections all include a shocking red and sparkling plum so these are definitely colours to team with pretty summer dresses. What shape should we have our nails? If you\'re sticking to the catwalk trends then nails have moved away from short and have gone long. King of the extreme Alexandra McQueen had long metallic nails in his show and Jeremy Scott opted for super long, black talons. As we\'ve said before there are no rules when it comes to nails but if you want to embrace the change of season invest in a bright plum, pastel grey and a fail safe lilac. Enjoy.
